Action PopUp 2.0

This message is for my Action PopUp customers only... you need to read this if you want an updated copy.

As you know, exactly one year today -- on August 15, 2007 -- I released the first version of Action PopUp, the first popup ever designed for opt-in forms.

It's an unblockable on-exit lightbox popup that submits your e-mail subscription form in the background... so you can place them anywhere and not lose a sale.

Guess what... I'm releasing version 2.0 of the product. It still has all the cool pop-up features you've grown to love: you can customize colors, size... and show some crazy unique special effects...

Now it also works as a WordPress plugin! You upload a folder and activate a WordPress plugin, and you can create just about any kind of popup just by clicking around.

No editing code or config files... just clicking around on stuff.

If you know me then you know I give free updates for life on all my products.

So how do you get a copy?

Let's call this the ten testimonial rule (instead of the ten comment rule)...

I need 10 reviews for Action PopUp 1.0 for my customers, and then I'll release version 2.0 to everyone.

If you own Action PopUp 1.0, could you comment below and tell me:

  • What site you use it on...
  • Why it appeals to you (Easy install? Do you run PPC ads and want your click payments to go the extra mile? Cool noticable effects?)
  • What feature you personally liked best about the product...
  • Why others should want it...

Just answer each one of those questions in a sentence each (heck, only answer one or two questions, I don't care). Just give me a review I can use, good or bad.

Once I have my ten reviews I'll release Action PopUp 2.0 to everyone who bought the first version... use it super-easily as a WordPress plugin!

The new script works just as well for normal sites as well (like forums, sales letters, anything!)

Please post your review below...

Robert this is fantastic! I use a pop-up script right now but it has flaws. One thing it does do is allow me to create a html page and have that as the pop-up.

Please take a look at my site at http://www.JRJackson.com and let me know if it will work the same.

    Thanks

    J.R.

  2. Lee says:

It would be interesting to see how to make Action PoP up as a WordPress plugin using the plugin tutorial software you sell. I have most of your software and wonder how you come up with all these ideas. Great software and reasonable prices.

  3. WPforSale says:

I second that Lee! A tutorial would be excellent for WordPress on Crack owners.

  4. I have been searching for a wordpress email plugin for weeks. This is the best that I have found.

I can’t wait for the release date. Soon I hope.

  5. Hey Robert – this looks like a great script and the fact that it will work as a wordpress plugin is super genuies… great job man!

    Hello Robert :

Firstly, sorry for my bad english. I am from Spain. Purchased since the beginnings all your scripts. All. 😉

Some times, you ask customers to write something to get update or so. I have lost some updates before this and I am not particularly agree with this. Please keep your customers on your side. I believe ?
I think it is useful for any customer to get updates without having to do a work for that. Anyway..it is my OWN opinion.

Now that I have seen your ActionPop2 video, I will try to install also in my blogs.

    Thanks to update.
    Bernard

  8. Gregg Hall says:

    Hi Robert,

I used your 1.0 version on several of my blogs that I
recently sold. I loved the easy customization that it offered.

I am looking forward to putting the 2.0 version on all
of the new sites I am getting ready to build,

    Gregg

  9. John Wilson says:

You have created some unique features, Robert.
I look forward to using the new version.

    John

  10. Janis Miller says:

Robert, you are truly the “King of PHP.” Action PopUp is an effective script and even a “PHP Dummy” like me can istall it with your instructions.

I love how it can be customized and how easy your step-by-step videos make it. I am always on the look out for your newsletter to see your latest offering.

Now that Action PopUp Version 2.0 will be a WordPress plugin I don’t know how you can make it any better.

    Thanks, Robert!

    Janis

  11. Tom Kaasbell says:

Bought 1.0 and while I generally have trouble installing and configuring scripts, Robert makes it so easy to install and use. Looking forward to my free upgrade.

  12. Steve Scully says:

    Hi Robert,

Looks ike you already got the 10 testimonials you needed…
Good for you and all you version popup members.

Listen up everyone, don’t beat about the bush, if you don’t already have Roberts Scripts then you are really missing a HUGE step up in your online endeavours…he makes it so easy to understand complex PHP issues. He IS a genius in the making…

Thanks for ALL your efforts Robert in making the Internet much easier to live with.

  13. Robert Plank says:

Looks ike you already got the 10 testimonials you needed…
Good for you and all you version popup members.

Right now I only have 5 usable testimonials… David Rogers, Gregg Hall, Janis Miller, Tom Kaasbell, and Steve Scully.

    So we’re halfway there.

  14. Chris says:

Optins using inline popups/iframes are essential in any sales process to stop visitors leaving your sales page, even for a few seconds. Action Popups does a brilliant job of stopping readers’ attention wandering and, even better, is now a WordPress plugin!

  15. Philip Jubb says:

I think I own every pop programme ever sold. Most are never installed (too fiddly) and many fail to “pop-up” or are binned for other similar reasons

I never figured Robert for a Pop Up person and was for some reason quite surprised to get his pitch.

Since I’m one on his junkies I bought it and sad to say it remained on my HD for some time.

An entirely unrelated incident caused me to blow off the dust and surprise surprise it did what it said on the can. (This is by no means common) Simple to install even for a wrinkly like myself I particularly liked to Admin facilities and the ability to change colors.

If you don’t have it buy it. If you don’t like it (There will be one of you) ask for your money back. Robert is particularly good with his warrenties.

It was foolish of me not to use it initially but, I was, and still am involved in WP Sites where Popup progs are either of poor quality or poor design.

soon to have the latest popup in use!

    Does this count Robert???

  16. Amin says:

Robert, your new version looks very cool. Very cool indeed.

But what I like most of all is what you’re doing here ‘just under the surface’.

You’re generating traffic, buzz, loyalty, testimonials and trained subscribers – very clever.

Frankly, the lesson in *what* you’re doing is way more important than the product itself. The funniest part of it is that you have it right out in the sunshine and a lot of people are missing it.

  17. Robert Plank says:

    Does this count Robert???

Yep that counts, that makes 7 testimonials. I just need 3 more and then all Action PopUp 1.x customers will get the free upgrade.

  18. I have been on Robert’s email list for some time. I buy his products because they are quality products that I can count on.
What I like most about Action PopUps is: –Once someone subscribes to my list and returns to my site they are not pestered by the same popup again. In other words they never see the popup again. How cool is that?
ActionPopups saves me money because I was able to cancel my other monthly subscription. I like having it runs on my server, giving me complete control.
Control, customization, and saving money in the long run, are the reasons I purchased Action PopUps.

  19. Robert Plank says:

Great testimonial, Curt! 8 down, 2 to go…

  20. Action popup is the best popup tool out there, and the best part is…it’s really easy to use and install. That’s important for someone like me who’s not a programmer (or comfortable with code in any way).

All of Robert’s products are top notch, Action Popup is no exception.

  21. Dale Maxwell says:

I love the action pop up…

something weird is happening to the scroll bar when I turn on the action popup in the blog…

here is a short video – could you take a look – thanks

    http://screencast.com/t/CeiKAqzpV

    I love your products…

    Dale

  22. Chris says:

Robert thanks for the upgrade! Great. Maybe I’ll start to look at doing a blog now!

One quick question – what are your thoughts on these “Virtual Agents” that a lot of sites are using now. Many are claiming that they increase sales more than pop-ups or pop-unders or pop-anything!

    I know they are a glorified pop-over but….?

(Will there be an RP version?)

    Regards
    Chris

  23. Scott says:

    Hi Robert,

I just noticed something that is happening on your site. Not sure if this is from the Action Pop-Up or not but the browser’s (I am using FireFox) Scroll is disappearing from the right side, and not allowing me to scroll your pages.

Just wanted to make you aware of it 😉

    Thanks! – Scott

  24. Robert Plank says:

Thanks for bringing that to my attention… it seems to happen when you click on links with hash marks… and I think I’ve just now fixed it. Sending out an update for version 2.03 to everyone now…

  25. Robert Plank says:

something weird is happening to the scroll bar when I turn on the action popup in the blog…

Dale, I noticed some weird stuff with the scrollbars too. I think I’ve fixed all of it. Could you check the download page and try out the latest version (2.03)

  26. gagandeep says:

    Hi,

I was planning to add action popup on a website running Adsense. If a person clicks on ad, and he is shown our popup, he will not go to the page of advertiser. Moreover, i feel this will be against Adsense TOS to use action popup on such a page.

Can you please help or make some fix to the code to not run if a person clicks on adsense ads.

    Regards
    Gagandeep

  27. Robert Plank says:

Gagandeep, did you actually test the popup script on a page with AdSense ads? What part of the AdSense TOS do you think it violates?

  28. Terry Crim says:

I have most if not all of Robert’s products and what I like best about them is the simplicity factor. They are designed to do what they do, no extra fluff or crapware just simply does what you want it to.

There are other products on the market including free and open source solutions though most of them are poorly designed and over bloated. Robert’s products including the Action Popup software is cleanly designed, no extra junk and stream lined which makes it a pleasure to install and very easy to use.

If anyone is sitting on the fence get off it and just buy now. Robert designs his products specifically for marketers and he tests them out in real world conditions before releasing them so you can be assured quality and results.

The software works, it just works.

  29. Ryan Malone says:

    Robert,

Love to product. Some problems getting going though. I am trying to use WP.org to add the plugin. I cannot get the popup to align along the width of the bottom page and stay there. Even if I choose stick to bottom, it sticks to top.

    Any ideas?

Also, can you send an updated download instructure, bought under smartbugmedia.com

    Thanks!

  30. Lex says:

    Hi Robert,
In another video you showed how to prompt the pop in the google page. How to do that?

  31. Ali says:

    Hi,

I have a problem with the exit popup not displaying the colour lightbox overlay correctly in IE7. It shifts the lightbox effect to the bottom of the page.

The lightbox effect works ok in Firefox.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Ali

  32. Ali says:

    Solved lightbox problem 🙂

Make sure you have a valid doctype declaration at the top of the page such as:

    Hope this helps people.

  33. Terry Jones says:

    Hi Robert,

Can you contact me via email when you read this comment as I have emailed you three times now (jx@jumpx.com), sent two messages via your contacts form (at the action popup site) all in the last 2 weeks and no response.

I can only assume my emails are being filtered.

    Thanks

    Terry Jones

  34. Andy says:

Terry, I emailed Robert twice and had no reply, so don’t be suprised if you don’t get a reply.

    Andy

  35. Terry Jones says:

    Hi Andy,

I usually give people the benefit of the doubt so I thought I would give it one more try by posting on Roberts blog as a blog comment won’t get filtered and I noticed Robert does occasionally respond to comments.

That way I know he is sure to see that I have been trying to contact him and, being the consumate IM professional that he is, Robert will make every effort to contact me.

It is nothing urgent Robert, I just have some download issues with some of your products that I have ordered.

    Terry

  36. Robert Plank says:

Andy and Terry, I just replied to you both. For some reason your messages were ending up in my spam folder, but a quick search found both of you. I apologize.

  37. Terry Jones says:

Thanks Robert, I thought the spam filtering was more than likely the problem and that is why I decided to post here as a last resort.

I replied to your email about one of the plugins so I hope you have whitelisted my email address 🙂

    Thanks

    Terry

  38. John Fox says:

Robert, congrats on all your accomplishments. I have a teenage son working on his php & C++ skills. Hope he can be half as successful as you.

I have a feature request/future product idea. Can you create something like “Instant Slide Up” ? It seems like a nice way to get noticed, while staying out of the way. The site for Instant Slide Up looks abandoned, so maybe that’s good for you?

    Thoughts?

  39. John Fox says:

Can I have a different Action PopUp on separate pages on my site, or do all pages have to use the same popup?

  40. Robert Plank says:

    John,

On a blog, the same popup appears throughout the whole blog.

On a regular web site, yes… you can setup multiple popups in folders like popup2, popup3, etc. and just embed the code pointing to that folder instead.

  41. Teng says:

Hi it apears that action pop up does not load on the new internet explorer. Do you have any idea how to overcome this?

  42. Robert Plank says:

Teng, it does load in IE8. This isn’t a support thread. Please email me with the version of your plugin and what URL you have it setup at…

  43. Brett Fogle says:

We had great success with this, and it added well over six figures to our launch…By offering lower price exit offers and payment plans to our launch service..

Very cool and easy to use.

How do we get version 2.0?

    Thanks.

    Brett

  44. Marshall says:

    Robert,
I really like the new version.
Seen it used in a few launches I’ve participated in recently and will likely be picking it up soon.

    Thanks,
    Marshall

  45. Onuora Amobi says:

Hi, I bought Action Popup and I love it but I have one major question?

How can I use it on a site that doesn’t allow PHP? One of my websites is hosted on a service that doesn’t allow PHP.

To get around that, I have been trying to use the JavaScript pointing to another instance of the script on another site.

Doesn’t work. Could you suggest anyway around that?

    Thanks

    Onuora

  46. Onuora Amobi says:

Oh and I use it on http://www.windows8update.com and it is getting me over 200 signups daily.

Thats why I need it to work on some of my MAJOR traffic sites as I can easily see 1200 daily signups with my traffic.

It took me one night to master and build a BEAUTIFUL popup and the installation PDF is fantastically easy…

  47. Uli says:

Using Action PopUp 2.35 on WordPress 3.05 site… Is there a way to combine these three scripts into a single one and enqueue it through the theme’s functions.php file?

    /* */

    ActionPopup.onEnter = true;

  48. Robert Plank says:

Just run it as a plugin. Don’t build it into the theme. Get the latest version.

  49. I have been looking for something like this for a long time.

I sell Moonshine Stills and I need every trick I can get my hands on.

I had the script installed on a NON WordPress site in about 20 min.

The only problem I had is the html popup should not be built with html tables.

It works great. I am loving It!

I did a duel purpose popup. It directs to a special deal page for last chance sales. It is also a newsletter subscription exit popup. I am giving away a $21.95 eBook for signup.

I think it is well worth the money.

I cant wait to see the extra profits roll in….hehehe……

    Thank You,

    Mobie Da Vinci
