1155: The Subconscious Secrets to Happiness, Success, and Fulfillment with Best Selling Author Mark Januszewski

Mark Januszewski covers Mind Rewiring Method in this Marketer of the Day episode. Mark Januszewski shows how to rewire your mind so goals become automatic, not a constant fight. He says self-help often fails because the subconscious drives 95%+ of choices using a childhood 'blueprint'. The blueprint forms in the first 6.5 to 7 years, when we live in a hypnotic theta state. To change it, he records short statements in your own voice and plays them while falling asleep and waking. This works because a thought sparks about 2,000 conscious connections while 4 billion fire in the subconscious. Over 26 weeks, about an hour a day (168 hours), you replace bad habits with healthier ones to break neuropeptide cravings.
Feeling stuck after reading self-help books that promise change but deliver little can be frustrating. It’s disheartening to invest time and energy into solutions that seem to fall short, leaving you trapped in familiar patterns. The cycle of disappointment can make it hard to believe in the possibility of real transformation.
Mark Januszewski is a trailblazer in the self-improvement industry, challenging the status quo with his unique approach. As the author of "The Seven Laws of the Mind," he has cracked the code on why traditional self-help methods fail to create lasting change. Today, Mark discusses his unique approach to self-improvement, emphasizing the importance of understanding the subconscious mind. Stay tuned!

Download transcript (.txt)Hey, welcome back. Mark Januszewski is here. He is the author of the seven laws of the mind. Master your mind. Master your life. His website is world's laziest networker.com, and Mark has figured out some amazing things. He's figured out how to concentrate better, accomplish things, get happy, grow your network, overcome addictions, overcome mental problems, and so much more. So. Mark is going to tell us about what he's discovered, how we can change our thinking, drop a few things and add a few more things and just change our mindset, change our trajectory, change our results. So Mark, glad to be speaking with you.
Yeah, it's a real honor to be here. And you know, it's one of those interesting little quirky things that happened through LinkedIn, and it's been a pleasure getting to know you and appreciate the professionalism. Appreciate being here. It's fantastic. So let's get rolling man.
Let's get rolling. Yeah, we met on LinkedIn, and I saw you had a book, and I narrated it, and you say, can you narrate two of my books? And one's done, the other is still in progress. But then, in the meantime, we interview here on a podcast to help sort of get the word out. And so we introduced you a little bit and dropped in a few ideas, but in your own words. What are you all about? What makes you unique and stand out?
Well, what makes us unique and stand out, quite candidly, also makes us very unpopular. In the traditional self help, self help books and self help market, the science is clear. It actually doesn't work. The self help industry is a $12 billion industry with zero quantifiable results. They'll always tell you one or two fantastic stories about someone that got their course or went through their book, but the science is pretty clear, and I think that would really be a good topic. And somebody might say, this guy's saying self help books don't work. Yeah, they don't work. The average person that buys one buy seven more, and nothing changes. As a matter of fact, most people get very frustrated because their conscious mind understands it and but they don't do it because the subconscious mind is running the show better than 95% of the decisions that a person makes in their life are made in the subconscious mind, triggered into the limbic system, which evaluates the reward potential for a judgment call, and it's going to go bait. It's going to run on history, their perception of incidents and experiences that they've had in their life. This is what's known as the blueprint, and the blueprint is run by the subconscious mind. It runs your whole body, and actually it runs your life. And so self help books like the two that I've written that you're, you know, nice enough to narrate for us, they're not books, because books don't work. Their exercises, and it sounds like I'm trying to be different. But if you understand the science and you're honest about all those things, walking the dog more often, getting to the gym, eating less carbs, or whatever it happens to be, these resolutions go down the drain. And as we read these books and understand them, and there's some good material in them. I'm not knocking the books. I'm just saying that that's not what makes people move. What makes them move or not move in a particular direction is the perception of reality in the subconscious mind. And to change that you've got to discover how it works, meaning the mind. If you don't know how the mind works, then you keep pouring stuff in there. And like most people and I, and this certainly describes me, I suffered with this stuff. I mean, the average person by seven, I had about 2728 of them. And, man, I could quote them and everything else and talk really intelligently about them, but nothing was changing in my life. I was living what Thoreau described as a life of quiet desperation. Most people live lives of quiet desperation. We know we have more potential, and I'd love to talk about that in the next round, but a little bit later in this wonderful time with you, until you understand the primal power of being and what you're actually sitting on between your ears, then all these little changes that people want to make resolutions, they read this self help book, or they want to change this, and they don't, it eats our self esteem. And in essence, we quit, and then just the absence of pain starts to feel like pleasure. And this is a life without passion. And a life without passion is, in my opinion, is pointless. You got to be on fire. So, yeah, that was that's sort of the trigger behind it all, and that's why the courses that we. Offer that are these books are built around. They help people learn to help themselves understand the subconscious mind, and more importantly, how to influence it, and even more importantly, when you can actually influence it. That makes sense.
That's exciting. And I'm curious to jump into that, especially that last bit you mentioned there, like the timing when to influence it, because I think you're so right. A lot of people are on a scary path of just like living in a cycle and living a mediocre life and settling, and we don't want that, right? And you mentioned that we read these self help books, and they tell us these things that we've heard so many times before, and we don't really do them, and it's comforting, right? They tell us to have a to do list and prioritize and make time for things and focus and affirmations and accountability partners and all these other concepts. But then, when you're mentioning there, it's like, there's these two realities, right? There's kind of your logical mind and your conscious and your subconscious. And anyone who's ever done a gone to work, been in school, has had this kind of herding cats problem, like, I wish I was excited to do homework. I wish I was motivated to knock out my tasks. And so why doesn't this work? And what's the better way of going about it?
Well, I want to be clear. Okay, I don't want to turn this into a science lesson, but it's based on, here's what's really interesting about the science in the last 2530 years on this subject, it turns out the ancients were right all along, all the way back to the Buddha. Okay, and so let's go to a person that's born. They This is created by the master architect who doeth all things well. So you have this perfect operating system, but it can't do anything because there's no programs in it. Okay, there's no programs. So how do we get these programs in? Well, nature designed us. So the first six and a half, seven years of our life, we are in the theta state, four states of mind, alpha, beta, Delta, Delta, and theta. And the theta state is really almost a state of hypnosis. And so we are just taking in information by watching our family, and then as we grow a little bit into the neighborhood, the kids around us and and so forth. And unfortunately, a lot of it's coming through these things today, as we know, but anyway, these are the programs that have be downloaded. So things that come easily in a person's life, there's a program for that, right? And things that people struggle with and constantly are disappointed or angry, or, you know, mad or sad, or really, to seem like two different states of minds, really just a different acting out of the same trigger that's just failure to execute. And that's because we have self sabotaging programs. So the good programs, the things that come easily to you, have good programs. You got that through observation in the theta state. So the theta state is when the subconscious can be influenced. It's actually recording, and this would be just when you're going off to sleep. So instead of checking my email, our students don't check their email. Well, they can check whatever they want, but when it's time to get in bed and lay down and you're done, it's not falling asleep with the phone or reruns of Frasier or something like that. They're actually listening to a recording of their own voice. And as you're falling asleep, you're not awake anymore, and you're not asleep, that is, you're back in that priceless theta state, and in that theta state, you're just programming into the subconscious mind. We're not talking about these long, wonderful, flowery, just, oh so, wonderful affirmations, really simple things. I'm a successful author. I do the things successful authors do over and over and over and over again. This leads to the discovery of Aladdin's lamp. Which will I want to tie this together? Because in the theta state, we can influence the subconscious mind, so the subconscious is still going to make all the decisions, but you are resetting what the subconscious mind is making those decisions from through repetition in the theta state, just like when you were a little kid. Okay, so in 2450 BC is the first writing that we have of what's known as the trickster god, and it was j, i n n, the trickster god would be like this, your royalty, and you want all the gold, okay? And the trickster god, and I'm a good guy, and I'd like to have a little bit more gold, but I'm just a worker among workers. Well, the trickster god gives it all to me because you wanted it for yourself, and I thought I could put it to good use. And this was known as the trickster god, j, i n, n. You can easily see the transition into the word Genie, the genie in a bottle, Aladdin and the magic Aladdin and the magic lamp, the magic carpet, right? The Fairy Godmother. Why has this sort of character that will grant wishes? Have been with us since 2450 as a matter of records through today. Well, it's actually one of the seven laws of the mind, and that's the law of subconscious activity, once the subconscious accepts something Okay, when you have a thought, 2000 synaptic connections, fire in the conscious mind, 4 billion fire in the subconscious mind at the same time. So when you reset that to I'm a successful writer, I do the things successful writers do. Or I'm a successful network marketer. I do the things successful network marketers do, whatever it is. Or I am happy. I am happy. I am happy, over and over and over again. And you listen to that last thing at night, first thing in the morning because suggestions around the house, stickers and dream boards and all that, they're fine, but they're just suggestions. They don't really influence the subconscious mind. So with Aladdin and the magic lamp is the one most people in the Western culture are familiar with, you had to find the lamp, which is understanding the primal power of being, that you're powerful being on measure. Now here's the science that matches Aladdin's limp. In 1965 NASA started a study. Okay? They were looking for smart people, creative geniuses, and they tested 30 year olds and 20 and they said, well, let's test 20 fives, and it was a little higher. Let's test 20s. It was a little higher, they get down to five year olds 98 This is fact, 98% of five year olds test out as creative geniuses. They followed those people for 25 years, and by the time they were 30 years old, 31 years old. 2% so the intelligence quotient pie chart you see is wrong, 2% idiots, 2% genius, 17% slightly below average, 17% slightly above and the rest of us average intelligence. It's accurate, but it's not true. That's how people test out, but it's not who they are. Here's the point, everybody's a creative genius. That's a fact. Okay, does that not match Aladdin's limb? So in here, in our imagination, we can create a reality, and we can manifest that reality. Now, that sounds great, but you got to do the work. This isn't the nonsense, like the secret and all that. That's, you know, God bless them, okay. But they wrote it to be sold, not to create change. Change takes hard mental labor to alter those habits, and that's why the course that we offer around this The Master Key System, which incorporates all these principles and gives someone a hands on guide for 26 weeks. It's a six month course. It will challenge people, but I look at it this way, give me an hour a day for six months. That's 168 hours. That's one week out of your life to become your own Aladdin's lamp and to be able to alter your reality, because you will do more good by living one day that way than a lifetime of preaching. Stop telling your kids you can be anything you want to be when you're not Does that make sense? So this science now matches the the Aladdin lamp idea is, it turns out the ancients knew all along about the subconscious mind. Get the right idea in your mind. Whatever ideas are in your mind, you want to know what you really believe. Look at your life. It's a printout of what you actually believe. So that's a very exciting thing for me, and it's why I did networking to fund building this course, that we could actually give away to people and in a very unique program for a buck, which is we're pretty excited about that concept because of the generosity of people. Does that make sense?
It does. And this is a cool concept, how you've combined all these things, right? You've combined the ancient with the science, with the tough love, harsh reality of the present. And a lot of what you said here makes sense, right? Like, I mean, I've read the secret like years ago, or read thinking to grow rich years ago. And I know you have opinions on that as well, that a lot of this is packaged as they kept the easy parts in and left the hard parts out, right. It's like, if you want to get in shape, want to go to the gym, you can't just do it a little bit when you feel like you have to put in the consistent work and get it done. And some of the concepts in thing and go rich. They mentioned, I'm like, you know, I should do that. When they mentioned about things like, like wake up in the morning and, like, rewrite your goals and speak them aloud, I'm like, you know, I've heard that. I haven't done it, but I'm really fascinated by your idea here of speaking out the wishes in your own voice and listening to it as you fall asleep. But that's just kind of like a little bit of a taste of the system. So you mentioned how you have your students, and you have this course, and from, like, a, like, a high level overview, like, what's what's this? 26 weeks about, like, what are the activities? What sort of change happens?
Well, what happens is, well, let's talk a little bit about thing grow rich in Napoleon Hill, which, by the way, this is a. Yeah, let's see which one is it? Yeah. So here's Think and Grow Rich, an original copy that's actually signed by Hill, whose career was in the dumper and W Clement Stone, who trained me, built the largest, most successful sales force in history. Stone, not me. You know, he resurrected his career, and then when he found out what a charlatan he was, he bounced them. It turns out, Hill actually did not write the book. I'm an English and education major, and I've read his writings before and after. There's no way he wrote very much of that at all his wife Rosa did. And where he got the material was from Charles Hanel The Master Key System, which, you know my experiences. It's the most powerful of all things that you can do if you actually want to improve your life. It's a challenge, but it's really kind of cool. It was meant to be what read one chapter at a time for a week. Okay, so you want to read less and think more, and what do you want to think about what you read and how you can apply it in your life? There's actually now, can you believe it self help groups out there to stop help people, stop people from buying more self help books, because it just increases the level of frustration. So what happens is, we bring people through Charles hanell's Master Key System, which W Clement Stone used, Andrew Carnegie, then the richest man in the world, used, and obviously it swept through Silicon Valley, and unlike popular belief, it was not banned by churches. That's more nonsense from your basic book burner types, but that's another whole podcast anyway. So what happens is people go through the course. Let me tell you about the marketing model, because this is something we've been criticized for. I think it's absolutely preposterous. And the slick marketing that's out there right now, a total stranger comes on and he says he's an expert, and he's learned how to position himself in the market, and he has three or four testimonials, and then he justifies a $2,000 price tag, folks, I don't think you should do that. I think you should be able to try something out for free and then decide what the value is that the consumer should decide the value. So people pay $1 and that registers them, gets them a certified guide. They can then fill out an application for a scholarship, and they can pay with PayPal. This isn't hidden in the fine print. You know, $40 a month or something like that. After the fourth week, the members then vote. Now it's a mastermind Alliance. A mastermind alliance is not all this nonsense you see online, you know, master classes and mastermind a mastermind Alliance, by definition, is two or more people working in perfect harmony for a definiteness of purpose. And so people have to be in harmony. So the group votes, you guys should continue to give this course away, and or you should sell it. Now, if they vote to sell it, they pay nothing. Okay, if they vote as a group to give it away, then we continue to give it away, and then they vote as a group what the minimum should be for hardship cases. And this just blows us away. It blows most people away. It didn't really blow me away. It's based on, in my opinion, the greatest essay ever written is Emerson's law of compensation, which basically gets down to four words, give more, get more. And so what happens after the fourth week they vote, we show them the vote. It's just them. It's not veterans, it's not lifetime members, it's not staff, just the new people. And since 2010 they've always voted to pay it forward. They set a minimum. And then at that point, after five weeks in, they decide, I want to continue, and they pay it forward for people that they never even met. And I gotta tell you, if that doesn't make you feel good, nothing does. This year, we have enough funds for 406 people to be able to take this course and go through the hard mental labor that will help them make those transitions. Now it's only hard the first few times, and then once you understand the pattern and know how to influence your subconscious mind, one of the key things about your subconscious mind got no defense against your voice. It's going to believe whatever you tell it. So if you keep calling yourself a fat slob, I'm a fat slob, I'm a fat slob, I'm such a loser, that's what your subconscious is going to manifest for you. That's really what's going to happen, and that's actually a chemical addiction, if we have enough time, I'd like to talk about that for a minute or two, but basically, people understand that by giving more, it returns to them over and over. And so we've had some incredibly generous people, and we've made it affordable. They make it affordable for anybody but the members determine the value of the course, not me, and they blow us away every year with their remarkable generosity, because people are basically good, and if you give them something, and let me just be real clear, nobody changes anybody's life. Okay, I can't change. Change Robert's life, but I can create an environment where Robert can learn the tools of how his mind works and do the work with the help of a guide. We give you, each person a guide. They get that guide for six months. They work for them. And this is all under that PIF program to Pay It Forward program. It's already covered for you. And so basically what happens is they go through this transformation, and they learn the pattern of it and how to set up psychological triggers. So the subconscious is influenced constantly, all day long, with colors and shapes and their own voice. And this isn't about repeating things over and over. It's it's really only going to be effective in the theta state and in the subconscious level. And we've developed proprietary methods to do that, because here's the real problem, Robert, do I have time to talk about this chemical addiction? We have about five minutes. Okay, so here's one, here's what happened. Okay, this is, again, we're in science now, and this backs what the master teacher in the bud said. The master teacher said, according to your faith, being unto you. He wasn't being religious. Okay? He was saying what you actually believe. Okay, so here's what happens. What do we actually believe? Your life's a print out of what you actually believe, not what you say you believe. No, you tell Robert you believe, not what you think you believe, but your life's a print out of it. So let's say you're a procrastinator, and you go, I'm not going to do it anymore. And you have three or four days where you're not procrastinating, you're really determined to do it. Okay, your subconscious is still holding the same thing. But interesting enough, there's a little factory in the back of your head called the hypothalamus, and every time you have a feeling, so when you procrastinate and then you're like all upset with it, and you're, let's say, self pity or anger, the little factory spits out hundreds of 1000s and millions of neuropeptides for each emotion. So there's one for each and every emotion follow this. Is unbelievable, again, Nobel Prize winning award. So every cell has receptors for those peptides, and they get addicted to those peptides. So you go three or four days, and every time you get yourself into a jackpot over procrastinating, you feel self pity and anger. Well, those cells, so you go three or four days without procrastinating, those cells are saying, feed me, feed me, feed me, feed me, feed me. And they don't want any peptide. They want that peptide, and you will unconsciously start to procrastinate again. So the chemical addiction is met. So the cells are happy, but the mind isn't happy. In this course, we show you how to interrupt that and alter the receptors, not the receptors, but the peptides that go out and get them addicted to the joy and happiness and kindness and empathy and compassion and success. And it takes work. I mean, anybody who thinks they're going to go away for a weekend be mesmerized by somebody and walk across ice cubes or hot coals, and their life is going to change. They're either on drugs or they need to be. So we have done that, and people can get on early notification list at master key experience.com and there's 406, slots available, and we're really excited about it. It starts at the end of September. Takes about a week or so to get your application process done. And we help people learn to help themselves. Find a Latins lamp, which is the subconscious mind, the law of subconscious activity and program in what they want. This isn't about getting things out. You can't do that. Only a habit can replace a habit. So you can't stop smoking, for example, you've got to start walking or drinking water or hitting a tennis ball. You have to substitute a healthy habit or a positive habit for those self sabotaging things. And once you do candidly, it scares you a little bit, but in a good way, because now you have the courage to step into uncertainty, and this is where it all happens. So you can see we want to repeat our history, even though we say we don't want to, because when you were a little kid, speaking of books, mommy read the little train that could to me over and over and over again. Why did I want to hear the same book with 40 books? Because the boogeyman was going to get me and he was going to eat my face, and I woke up the next morning and he didn't. So what do you want to do? You want to read a different book? No little train that could little train that could little so routine or certainty gives us a feeling of comfort, and it's false, because the worlds that are available for everybody that's listening to this, they're unlimited in potential, but they're not in certainty. They are stepping into uncertainty, and most people, because of their perceptions of reality, replace uncertainty with awfulness. And do what's routine for them while simultaneously complaining to their tenant, their friend. I'd like my life to be better, but we repeat the pattern because of what we talked about before. So I'm just too deep into science and ancient wisdom, but clearly it's a passion of mine, and seeing people break through, I gotta tell you, it's good for the soul. Makes it feel good. Does that sort of too much, or hit the spot? Or what do we got?
It's it's temporarily too much, which is good, right? We need to wake up. And a lot of what you said makes sense. This idea of self sabotage and your the randomness of your upbringing and those experience sort of set you in your ways. And it's hard to break out of that, and it makes sense historically why this happened, right? Because when you're a caveman and it's dangerously the cave, you don't want to do that. But now that we are in the squirm of possibilities, we should take risks, right? We should travel. We should start that business. We should do the networking and contact the people. So now it's time for a different mindset as time to rewire some of these things. So you said master key experience.com is that the next step to go to
That would be the next step to go to that will put them in the master key. Right now we're adding people onto the wait list. We did a thing with a company last week, a networking company, and 106 people have claimed scholarships already. So it's 406 really, just around 300 left. Get on the early notification list. Check it out. There'll be a couple of videos in September that'll go a little slower over this, some of this stuff, but it really just gets down to one thing, honesty. You know, just being honest. If you're like me, and I think most people and I'm like most people, and most people are like me, there was in my head I knew I could be doing better in all three major areas of life, my personal life, health and business. And we've been tricked, because what happens to that seven year old? What happens? What happens in that data state is we go to school and we get conditioned. People that don't know they've been conditioned have been perfectly conditioned the machine that's out there. They're unbelievable at what they do, and if you look back in history, they've always done it the same way. Scaremen, demoralize them, and people thinking that they're not enough, and the moving goal post, what a one two punch for the machine to make us into sniveling, unconsciously seeking approval of people that we know, it's just absolutely incredible. We like to say, fire your head, hire your heart. But most of us are operating based on our perception of experiences, which from the time we were seven years old. I mean, think about when you go to school, you can be anything you want to be Robert, but you better follow the rules like everybody else, because if you don't, you're going to go to the principal's office three times. You're kicked out. You're going to live under a bar in a box under a bridge. But you can be anything you want to be. It's a lie, you know? It's how little girls dress a little boys dress. So black kids, does the White kids do? So Asian kids do, and so on and so forth. And so we start to develop this reality, and what the schools do is they kill divergent thinking, which is taking different input and creating new ideas out of it, and they sell us on convergent thinking, which is about judgment and decision making. And when convergent overrides divergent and this is right out of the NASA study. This isn't me, when, when, when convergent overrides divergent thinking, the creative genius dies, and at that point, you're painting by the numbers. And most of the goals that people set, there are other people's goals. I'm not saying that they don't have value paying for the kids education by now, but they're not your heart's desire, because you find your heart's desire all that other stuff happens anyway. Does that make sense?
Yeah. And it relates to you saying about how you need to help yourself, right? And that if you, if you woken up to the conditioning that has been applied to you, you're the only one that can get out of it, which is both good and bad, right? No one will do it for you. So you have the freedom, but you also have to do the work. And so this is a wonderful taste of what you're all about. And as people are checking out some of these solutions. Is there any other location they should go to, any other websites or books or anything else to find out about Mr. Mark Januszewski
well, there's two books there, the standing tall and the seven laws of the mind. And unlike the quote, unquote, self help books, these are exercises. They're not books. And I know you and I talked about how to record or narrate standing tall, because there's actually seven verities or seven truths that have been around for 4500 years. And you know, we just put them in an everyday practical language. But there's a workbook of. To check off, and then in the book, they'll find some websites that they can go to and get some hands on support. Because we're trying to UPS. We're trying to I'm a disruptor, and I'm tired of seeing people it. I don't care about the money that they spend on the books. What I care about is the heartbreak and despair that everybody secretly has but doesn't want to talk about because they get all excited about the book. But nothing changes, so we're trying to disrupt that. But you know, the master key experience.com plugs everybody into the real resources that we have and what's available. And by the way, there's nothing for sale on the site. You can't buy anything there. Okay, there might be a link to Amazon, but, but there's nothing for sale on the site. You know, we give the course away. Check it out. I think you'll like it if you're willing, at this point to own that the circumstances in your life for your responsibility. You know, guy says, Yeah, you don't understand my ex wife. Oh, really? Who chased her and every time she wanted to leave, who begged her to stay? And isn't it true that she actually behaved as amortized? So who was the one that was real? And when people are willing to own that, the possibility for change opens up. That's the whole thing, and it's a tough nut to swallow that all when I was when I discovered all this stuff, when I had to say, oh my gosh, my life's a mess. And I did it, but inside that is something beautiful. I created this mess. My life was unmanageable. It was insanity, and I was unhappy and felt terrible, and but inside that is this liberation when you own all of it. And that is, I am creative. There's greatness in everybody, but you have to find it if you measure it based on the world's idea of great. Yeah, you know, not everybody's going to be Tom Brady, that's not what we're talking about. But there are no common people, and there's greatness in everybody, and they just have to go get it. So that's my thing. There are no common people, and we love to watch people draw out of themselves or educe this primal power of being, this Aladdin's lamp, this ability to create their own reality that is joyous and free and not without challenges, but when you're doing what you love, they're just things that build your story stronger. It's fantastic. Anyway, this has been awesome, man.
Yeah, and you're awesome. So it's time now to go to masterkey experience.com. Mark Januszewski, mind blowing and wonderful speaking with you.
